The Sacrament of the Eucharist
Catholics believe the Eucharist, or Communion, is both a sacrifice and a meal. We believe in the real presence of Jesus, who died for our sins. As we receive Christ's Body and Blood, we also are nourished spiritually and brought closer to God.
To receive first reconciliation and first communion a child must be currently in the second grade, at least seven years old, attending Mass weekly, and must have completed one year of faith formation classes.
Parents of children in sacramental preparation are required to attend two parent classes in the Fall and two in the Spring. There are also two parent/student interveiws: one for reconciliation and one for communion.
