Confirmation is conferred after Baptism to strengthen the work of the Holy Spirit begun in Baptism. Confirmation assists the person to conform more closely to Christ. It calls the person to accept a sense of mission to be sent out to the world to be a living, vital witness to the teaching of Jesus, the Lord. Confirmation is often seen as graduation; instead, Confirmation is when we say and profess that we intend to learn more about our faith.
We are excited to journey with you and your family towards the Sacrament of Confirmation. This is a truly special time of spiritual formation for you, one that we hope will strengthen your entire family.
The Confirmation Class of 2017 (which includes candidates who are in the 9th and 10th grade primarily) will begin prepartation in August of 2015.

The policy of the Archdiocese of Mobile states that youth must be in the 11th grade to receive Confirmation. At St. Columba, our confirmation program is a two year process. Candidates begin the process in the 9th or 10th grade. Students are asked to attend youth faith formation, called Life Nights, each Sunday for the two years of preparation. Candidates are also asked to attend Confirmation classes (Journey nights) beginning in September 2016, which is the second year of formation. All candidates are expected to attend Mass weekly and reconciliation often. Confirmations at St. Columba are normally in September every other year.
