Reconciliation, or confession is a sacrament of healing. When we confess our sins to a priest in reconciliation we believe that the priest, acting as Christ (John 20:23), can forgive our sins and put us, once again, in right relationship with God.
To receive first reconciliation and first communion a child must be currently in the second grade, at least seven years old, attending Mass weekly, and must have completed one year of faith formation classes. First reconciliaton and first communion classes are on Wednesday evenings during the Ignite program for second graders. For children 3rd grade or above a special class is offered.
Our classes for 2nd grade children are on Wednesday evenings during Ignite. Children in 3rd grade or above will have special classes as needed.
Parents of children in sacramental preparation are required to attend two parent classes in the Fall and two in the Spring. There are also two parent/student interveiws: one for reconciliation and one for communion.
